AI tools that watermark every free export
A visible watermark is the honest trap — at least you can see it. Cropping or covering it is its own breach of the terms, and it usually ruins the frame anyway. These tools mark every free export; each review names the cheapest plan that removes the mark and grants commercial rights together.

Level 4/4Not recommended81HeyGenAI avatarEvery free export carries a HeyGen corner logo for the full video, removable only on a paid plan — on top of the non-commercial license, so the free tier can't produce a publishable monetizable asset.
Level 4/4Not recommended78Steve AIAI editingFree plan can no longer download/export at all — you must upgrade to obtain the file. L4: free tier cannot produce a publishable asset.
Level 4/4Not recommended72SpeechifyAI voiceThere is no audio watermark because there is no exportable file at all on the free tier. MP3/audio download is gated entirely behind paid plans, so the free tier cannot produce a publishable, monetizable asset that leaves the app -> L4.
Level 4/4Risky67KlingAI videoPaid Service §7.2 requires non-members to carry the Kling brand watermark (above), and watermark removal is a paid-member-only right. Combined with the §4.6 non-commercial restriction quoted under commercial-use rights, the free tier cannot produce a clean, publishable, monetizable asset at all — hence L4, not just the L3 watermark block.
Level 4/4Risky67LOVO (Genny)AI voiceFree users cannot download/export any project at all — they only get LOVO-hosted share links that 'playback with a LOVO watermark' (per the free-trial article), and after the 14-day Pro trial 'you will automatically become a free user.' The free tier therefore cannot produce a publishable, downloadable asset = L4. NOTE: tools.ts currently claims '~3 downloads/month' on free — this is factually wrong; free downloads = zero.
Level 4/4Unclear65Sora (OpenAI)AI videoL4: the free tier (in fact every tier) cannot produce a publishable, monetizable asset at all — the entire consumer product was discontinued on April 26, 2026. Confirmed live (HTTP 200) on this help page on 2026-06-16. Independently corroborated: the 'creating-videos-with-sora' how-to article now returns HTTP 404, and the consumer site directs users to a sora.chatgpt.com/sunset export-only flow. This is the most extreme freeGate state — not a watermark or cap, but total unavailability.
Level 4/4Risky60SynthesiaAI avatarOn the pricing page, BOTH 'Download your videos' AND 'Remove Synthesia logo' are listed under what the paid Starter tier ADDS on top of Basic. That means the free 'Basic' plan has NO MP4 download and a forced Synthesia watermark on every render. With no export and a non-removable watermark, the free tier cannot produce a clean, publishable, monetizable asset at all => L4.
Level 4/4Risky60Murf AIAI voiceThe free tier cannot produce a publishable/monetizable asset at all: you can only preview audio in the browser and share project links — no download or export of any file format. That is worse than a watermark (L3); it is a hard L4 export block. The help page directs users to the pricing page to purchase a plan in order to download.
Level 4/4Risky57Revid.aiAI editingThe free tier cannot produce a publishable, monetizable asset at all: you can build and preview in the editor, but every export is paywalled ("any new export requires an active subscription"). There is no watermark, but that is moot because there is no downloadable file to monetize. L4.
Level 3/4Not recommended74Luma Dream MachineAI videoL3: visible Luma watermark burned into every free export, removable only by paying — and worse, it is permanent on the asset (upgrading does not retroactively clean old clips). The pricing page corroborates: the Free plan line lists 'Watermarks', while the Plus plan lists 'No watermarks'. Not L4 because the free tier can still produce a finished clip, it is just watermarked.
Level 3/4Not recommended71Pollo AIAI videoPollo's own FAQ confirms a visible watermark on every free export, removable only by paying. Corroborated on the live pricing page: the cheapest paid tier (Lite, $10/mo annual) still lists 'Watermarked outputs,' while Pro and Ultra list 'Watermark-free outputs' — establishing that the watermark is the lock and that even Lite does not remove it. A monetized upload cannot ship a watermarked clip => L3 (visible watermark on every free export, removable only by paying).
Level 3/4Not recommended69D-IDAI avatarEvery free-trial (Guest User) clip carries a watermark removable only by paying. The official FAQ adds: 'a full-screen watermark appears for trial users.' EULA 3.2 confirms 'Animations produced for Paying Users will not have Watermarks.' A publishable asset is still produced (just stamped), so L3, not L4.
Level 3/4Not recommended67HedraAI avatarDirectly on point: every free export carries a Hedra watermark and the only path to 'no watermark' is paying (talking-avatar page: paid plans 'all include commercial use rights with no watermark'). Corroborated on the pricing page FAQ: 'Upon cancelling Hedra, you will lose access to most functionality of the platform, apart from limited watermarked generations.' Visible Hedra watermark on every free export, removable only by paying -> L3. Primary-confirmed.
Level 3/4Not recommended66LTX StudioAI videoThe live pricing page lists 'No watermarking' as a Lite-tier upgrade under 'Everything in Free, plus...' (adjacent to 'LTX-2 4K resolution') — which establishes that Free-tier output IS watermarked, removable only by paying (Lite $15/mo or higher). The Free feature column does not include 'No watermarking'. Visible LTX watermark on every free export, removable only by paying = L3. Even once removed at Lite, the personal-use license still blocks monetization (see commercialUse). Verbatim contiguous string confirmed on the live pricing page 2026-06-17.
Level 3/4Not recommended66Genmo (Mochi)AI videoFree output carries a visible Genmo watermark; the paid Lite and Standard tiers are explicitly listed as 'No watermark', so the brand mark is removable only by paying. Visible-watermark-removable-by-paying = L3.
Level 3/4Not recommended63PixVerseAI videoEvery free export carries a visible PixVerse watermark, removable only by upgrading to a paid plan (Standard). L3 (visible watermark on every free export, removable only by paying). NOTE: this level rests on consistent third-party reviews + observable product behavior, NOT on a PixVerse primary clause — the watermark is not described in PixVerse's own terms/pricing (pricing pages are 404/in-app gated). This is acceptable for a non-safe L3. Combined with commercialUse L4, the override raises the band to Not recommended. (Specific resolution/credit figures sometimes cited by third parties — e.g. 540p, 100 credits — are NOT confirmed on-page and live only in the unclearFlags, never in this quoted evidence.)
Level 3/4Unclear61ColossyanAI avatarOn the pricing comparison matrix the 'Remove Colossyan watermark' row shows a checkmark only for Starter, Business and Enterprise; the Free column is an empty placeholder (no check). So free exports carry a visible Colossyan branded overlay that can be removed only by upgrading to a paid plan = L3 (visible watermark removable only by paying). Free can still export 1080p, so not L4.
Level 3/4Unclear61AutoShorts.aiAI editingThe FAQ states paid plans REMOVE the watermark, which means free-tier output carries a visible AutoShorts watermark removable only by paying = L3. (This corrects the existing tools.ts claim of 'no watermark on every plan including free.') The free plan is additionally suspended per the FAQ, but the durable structural gate is the removable watermark.
Level 3/4Risky60Hailuo (MiniMax)AI videoVisible watermark burned onto every free export, removable only by upgrading: 'Paid Users : Standard plan subscribers and higher-tier users will be able to download videos without a watermark.' Classic L3 visible-watermark gate, removable only by paying.
Level 3/4Risky57FlikiAI videoThe pricing page lists the Free plan as '720p videos / Includes Fliki watermark', and the FAQ confirms 'Fliki automatically adds a watermark to content for users on the free plan. Upon upgrading to a paid plan, your videos will be watermark-free. However, any videos exported during the free plan will retain the watermark until re-exported.' A visible watermark is burned into every free export and is removable only by paying and re-exporting — textbook L3 (visible watermark on every free export, removable only by paying).
Level 3/4Risky57ViduAI videoFree exports carry a visible Vidu watermark by default — confirmed by Vidu's own pricing-page UI payload, which offers free users a 'Download without watermark' option only after watching an ad, and a trial-ended upsell promising 'No watermarks' on a paid plan. The default free deliverable is watermarked; clean removal requires either an ad gimmick or paying => visible watermark on every free export, removable by paying = L3. (Mitigation note: the ad-watch path can strip the mark, but it is not a reliable clean publishing workflow.)
Level 3/4Not recommended56PikaAI videoFree output is watermarked: per Pika's FAQ a video shared directly from Pika carries a watermark on every tier, and only Pro/Fancy downloads are watermark-free — so a free download still carries the mark, removable only by paying.
Level 3/4Risky56KapwingAI editingVisible bottom-right watermark on every free export, removable only by paying for Pro. Pricing page confirms free exports carry the watermark and 720p/1-min caps.
Level 3/4Unclear53KlapAI editingCORRECTED back to L3 — the prior CMR draft wrongly flipped this to L0 (watermark-free) based solely on a /tools/youtube-to-shorts SEO marketing page, reversing ClipJury's own product-tested verdict with no re-test. ClipJury's tested finding stands: Klap's free path is a one-time 'process 1 video' trial whose export carries a visible Klap watermark removable only by upgrading to a paid plan ('the free tier is a single watermarked test clip you can't post'). NO primary source contradicts this — the live ToS, Privacy Policy, pricing and homepage say NOTHING about watermarks (the word 'watermark' does not appear on the homepage or pricing page; pricing lists no watermark line on any tier). A clipjury-observation may RAISE risk (it is not certifying a safe level), so it is the correct evidence here. Visible watermark removable only by paying = L3: the free tier cannot produce a clean publishable asset.
Level 3/4Unclear53Lumen5AI editingFree plan card on the live pricing page lists 'Contains Lumen5 branded outro' as an included limitation; the help article confirms 'You can remove this Lumen5 branded outro by upgrading to one of our paid plans.' Visible brand element on the published asset, removable only by paying = L3.
Level 3/4Unclear51SubmagicAI editingThe Free plan's own pricing card lists 'Submagic watermark' as a free-tier limitation, while every paid tier (Starter and up) shows 'No Watermark' on the comparison table. A visible Submagic watermark is burned into every free export and is removable only by paying => L3. The free tier also caps at 3 videos/month, 1mn30 max, 200MB — a watermarked trial, not a publishable production plan. (Quote taken verbatim from the live Free card in the pricing-page HTML, including the '&' in '200MB & 1mn30 max'.)
Level 3/4Use with caution51OpusClipAI editingOpusClip's own pricing page marks the Free plan 'Has watermark' and lists 'Remove Watermark' as a Starter ($15/mo) feature; the comparison table shows 'Watermark-free video export' present only from Starter up (Free = absent). So every free export carries a visible 'Opus Clip' watermark removable only by paying = L3. (The 3-day export expiry compounds this but the watermark alone fixes the level.)
Level 3/4Unclear49VizardAI editingL3 — every free export carries a visible burned-in Vizard.ai watermark, removable only by paying. Corroborated on the pricing page comparison table where 'Watermark removal' is listed as a paid-tier feature and the Creator plan headline reads 'Create high quality videos, no watermark' ($14.5/month) — implying the Free tier does not. Free is also capped at 720p with 3-day storage. (help sourceType is acceptable here because L3 is a non-safe/riskier level, not a safe 0/1.)
Level 3/4Use with caution47CreatifyAI avatarEvery free export carries a visible Creatify watermark; the same pricing page lists 'Watermark Removal' only as a Starter/Pro feature, so the watermark is removable solely by paying => L3.
Level 3/4Unclear46VEEDAI editingVisible VEED.IO watermark hardcoded into every free export, removable only by paying — the help center adds 'The Lite, Pro, and Enterprise plans allow you to export projects without a watermark.' Classic visible-watermark-removable-only-by-paying => L3. (Help-center source used to set a risky level, which the rubric permits.)
Level 3/4Use with caution39Vidnoz AIAI avatarThe Compare-Plans table shows the Free column's commercial-license cell as 'With Vidnoz watermark', and 'Remove Vidnoz Watermark' is listed only as a paid feature. Free output carries a visible Vidnoz watermark removable only by paying — L3.
Level 3/4Use with caution38Veo (Google)AI videoEvery Free and Pro export carries a visible on-screen "Made with Veo" label that brands the video and blocks clean monetization; it is removed only on the Ultra tier. (An invisible SynthID mark is on all tiers but does not itself block monetization.)
Level 3/4Use with caution36PictoryAI editingEvery free-trial export carries a visible Pictory brand watermark, removable only by subscribing to a paid plan — textbook L3. Corroborated on the primary pricing page, where 'No watermark' is listed only under the paid Starter plan and above (the Free Trial column has no such entry). You CAN export a watermarked file, so this is L3 (visible, removable-by-paying watermark), not L4 (no exportable asset). A help-center source is permitted here because L3 RAISES risk; the corroborating pricing page is primary.
Level 3/4Mostly safe29RunwayAI videoPrimary-confirmed (not merely inferred): the live pricing page lists 'Remove watermarks / All video models' only under Standard's 'Everything in Free and...' block, and the page's embedded plan-config payload sets canRemoveEuropaWatermark=false (and doNotWatermarkLipsync=false) for the Free tier vs =true for Standard/Pro/Max. Together this is Runway's own primary source establishing that free exports carry a removable-only-by-paying Runway watermark. A monetized video or client deliverable cannot ship a watermarked export => L3. (Runway's Help Center 'Free plan details' article states this in plain prose too, but it is Cloudflare/JS-gated to a 403 for non-browser fetches, so it is not quoted here.) Free credits are also one-time (125, never refresh).
Level 3/4Mostly safe26DescriptAI editingDescript's own pricing comparison lists 'Watermark-free video export' as a paid-only row, and the cheapest paid tier (Hobbyist) is explicitly sold as the watermark-free unlock. The same table shows local export resolution stepping 720p (Free) / 1080p / 4k / 4k, so Free is capped at 720p AND carries a Descript watermark. That is a visible watermark on free exports removable only by paying = L3. (Descript's help center documents a 'one watermark-free export per month' allowance on Free, but the help page is Cloudflare/JS-gated 403 and not primary-confirmable; it does not change that the default free export is watermarked.)
Level 3/4Mostly safe24Captions (by Mirage)AI avatarCaptions’ own Help Center documents a watermark on exported video on the free tier, removable only by upgrading to a paid plan. A visible brand watermark on every free export => L3 (corrected from the prior L1, which under-rated the free-tier blocker).
Level 3/4Mostly safe21Quso (formerly vidyo.ai)AI editingFree plan stamps a visible Quso watermark on every export and caps quality at 720p; the help center confirms watermark-free 1080p is a paid (Lite) feature. The watermark is removable only by upgrading to a paid tier.
